Research and Scholarship
Research and Scholarship Interests
- My laboratory is actively involved in the application of molecular techniques to the diagnosis, study of antibiotic resistance, and the epidemiological analysis (i.e., molecular epidemiology) of infectious diseases with a special emphasis on Clostridium difficile, staphylococci, and staphylococcal diseases. We are especially interested in the impact whole genome sequencing (WGS) is having on these areas of investigation. Especially with regard to epidemiological analysis, the use of WGS remains in need of clarified sequencing protocols and guidelines for bioinformatic data analysis and interpretation - areas we are actively pursuing with a variety of collaborators both corporate and academic.
