Biography

 
Dr. Venkata (Mahesh) Alla is currently a practicing non-invasive academic Cardiologist in Omaha, an Associate professor of Medicine in Creighton University School of Medicine and the Program Director for the cardiovascular fellowship program.  He graduated with a medical degree from Osmania Medical College in Hyderabad, India in 2000, completed his residency in Internal Medicine at the Postgraduate Institute for Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India and worked as a Chief Resident at the Nizam’s Institute for Medical Sciences, Hyderabad, India before he moved to the United States in 2006. He completed Internal Medicine Residency in 2009 and Cardiovascular Fellowship in 2012 at Creighton University, Omaha, Nebraska and has been on the Faculty since 2012. He is board-certified in Internal Medicine, Cardiology, Nuclear Cardiology, Cardiac Computed Tomography and Comprehensive Adult Echocardiography.  His clinical and research interests include Preventive / Clinical Cardiology, Echocardiography. He is a dedicated teacher and is passionate about fellowship educ and Cardiac Imaging. He has been awarded the Master Clinician Award, Graduate medical education teaching award and distinguished teacher award by the University and the training program. He has authored a number of articles in peer reviewed journals, written text book chapters and has presented at numerous national and International meetings. He volunteers regularly at various local community wellness events targeting the Indian community and is the past president of the Nebraska Iowa Physicians of Indian Origin. Over the last few years he is pursuing various efforts to serve in India by participating in and organizing free health camps to improve patient care as well as conducting lectures and workshops to further health education among state employed health care providers. He plans to continue his work over the next few years and increase engagement with governmental and NGOs to improve the effectiveness of health care delivery systems in India.
