  • NUR243-Care Management Concepts I- (care management to promote, protect, restore, maintain health). Emphasis on fundamental concepts/exemplars r/t actual/potential health alterations across the lifespan and with diverse populations.
  • NUR244-Care Management Practicum I (basic care management to promote, protect, restore and maintain health). Focusing on diverse populations with actual and potential health alterations. Teaching proficiency in fundamental skills and knowledge.
  • NUR250- Human Pathophysiology (provides an overview of pathophysiological concepts across the lifespan). Defining concepts, identifying health alterations, providing an overview of common pathologies and pathophysiological changes to body systems.

Biography

Dr. Aimee Burch joined Creighton College of Nursing in 2018 as an Assistant Professor. She received a Bachelor of Science in Comprehensive Biology from the University of Nebraska-Kearney in 1994, her Accelerated BSN in 2003 and her MS as a Clinical Nurse Specialist in 2008, both from Creighton University. She completed her Doctor of Nursing Practice in Advanced Practice Leadership with highest disctinction from Chamberlain College of Nursing in 2017. Dr. Burch's research focus includes improving student writing ability in the ABSN program, as well as hourly rounding and nurse knowledge of palliative care, among others.

  • Palliative care, nursing knowledge and understanding of evidence-based practice, hourly rounding, improvement of student writing ability in the ANC course.

Current Research Projects

  • Use of a text-to-speech application to improve nursing student writing submissions in the accelerate nursing curriculum. 

Grant Funding Received

  • The Effect of a Text-to-Speech Application on Nursing Student Writing Submissions (1452509-1)- use of an on-line platform to allow students to hear their writing and make improvements as they go.
