Professor

Professor Haneman is the Associate Dean of Research and Innovation and the Frank J. Kellegher Professor of Trusts & Estates at Creighton University School of Law. She teaches courses addressing various aspects of taxation, wills, trusts and estates, and business associations. Prior to coming to Creighton, she was awarded the Student Bar Association Professor of the Year Award at both the University of La Verne College of Law and California Western School of Law.  In 2012, she was a visitor at the William S. Boyd School of Law, University of Nevada, Las Vegas.
  
Professor Haneman is a BARBRI lecturer for wills, trusts, and estates, and an Academic Fellow in the American College of Trust and Estate Counsel (ACTEC). 

She has authored four books, including the practice guide Planning for Large Estates (Matthew Bender, forthcoming 2023 ed.), the supplement Questions & Answers: Wills, Trusts, and Estates, 4th ed. (Carolina Academic Press, forthcoming 2023) with Thomas M. Featherston, the casebook Federal Taxes of Gratuitous Transfers: Law & Planning, 2d. ed. (Aspen, 2023) with Joseph M. Dodge, Wendy C. Gerzog, Bridget J. Crawford & Jennifer Bird-Pollan, and the casebook Making Tax Law (Carolina Academic Press, 2014) with Daniel M. Berman. Professor Haneman has also published more than twenty law review articles, essays, and/or book chapters in journals that include the Harvard Journal on Legislation, North Carolina Law Review, Virginia Tax Review, Wake Forest Law Review, University of Richmond Law Review, Oklahoma Law Review, Nevada Law Journal, and Columbia Journal of Gender and the Law.  Further, she is the 2023 Chair for the Association of American Law School (AALS) Section on Women in Legal Education, and the 2024 Chair of the AALS Trusts and Estates Section. She is also on the Board of Directors for ClassCrits. Professor Haneman is licensed to practice law in the state of California. 
 
Professor Haneman is a regularly engaged expert by media including PBS NewsHour, National Public Radio, The New York Times, The Wall Street Journal, Wired, Forbes, and Fox Business. Professor Haneman’s recent scholarship focuses on taxation, the death services industry, and student loan debt.  She has a particular interest in tax policy, industry disruption, emerging markets, and women and the law.
