Nermien E Waly, PhD, MD.
Dr. Waly received her MBBCh/MD’ 92, and masters of Physiology’ 98 from Assiut School of Medicine, Egypt.  She received her PhD’ 2005 in neuroscience from the Biomedical Sciences department, School of Medicine, Creighton University, USA. She did her postdoctoral training at the University of Nebraska medical center (UNMC), USA.
Dr. Waly started her career as a medical educator in 1994. She worked as an instructor, assistant lecturer, then lecturer at Assiut school of Medicine, Assiut, Egypt.  She moved to Helwan school of medicine (HU-Med), Egypt, in 2015 as an assistant professor then associate professor of Physiology. She joined CSOM faculty at the medical education department in 2019.
Dr. Waly primary career interest is medical education and its research. She has an extensive teaching experience for medical, pharmacy, and dentistry students at both under- and post-graduate levels. Dr. Waly served on the curriculum management committee at HU-Med where she contributed to curriculum reform there. She was also the director of the quality assurance unit.
Dr. Waly also pursues her research interest is in the neuroscience field particularly circadian research. She is also interested alternative and herbal medication for diseases as well as the impact of drugs on homeostatic mechanisms of various physiological functions.
