Biography
Dr. Lohman earned her B.S. degree in occupational therapy from Colorado State University, her M.A. degree in Health Education with a graduate certificate in gerontology from the University of Nebraska at Omaha, and her doctor of occupational therapy degree from Creighton University at Omaha, Nebraska. She is a tenured Full Professor in the School of Pharmacy and Health Professions at Creighton University and has been teaching for over 25 years. Prior to entering education she had several years working in the following areas: outpatient hands, acute care, skilled nursing facilities, adult day care, hospice, home health hospice and mental health. Currently she teaches Upper Extremity Evaluation and Intervention, and Disability and Health Care Policy both with on-campus course and distance students. Dr. Lohman also teaches a course on the American Health Care System at Brunel University, London England. In 2022 she was the recipient of the univeristy award Distinguished Educator in Teaching as Scholarship. Dr. Lohman, has published extensively including three textbooks each with several editions that are used in occupational therapy programs throughout the country and internationally. These books include: Heath care services: Policy and systems for therapists, Introduction to orthotics: A problem solving and clinical reasoning approach and Occupational therapy with elders: Strategies for the COTA. Dr. Lohman published numerous articles and presented several times at an international, national, state/regional levels. Dr. Lohman has national involvement with the accrediting body ACOTE and and was past secretary for the national honor society, Pi Theta. She was on the state quality assurance board for Medicare-CIMRO.
