Biography

Angela J. Lederach joined Creighton University in 2020 after receiving a dual PhD in Anthropology and Peace Studies from the University of Notre Dame. Prior to graduate study, Dr. Lederach worked as a peacebuilding and restorative justice practitioner in Sierra Leone, Philippines, Guatemala, Colombia, and the United States. Her current research examines the politics of peacebuilding in Colombia. She pays particular attention to how local communities respond to the compounding violences of armed conflict, environmental degradation, and social inequality. An upcoming project will use participatory research with an environmental coalition to examine the strategies and narratives grassroots actors mobilize across the axes of race, gender, sexuality, generation, and territory to confront and transform extractive violence in Colombia's postaccord context.
