Grant Funding Received

  • 12/1/2014 – 11/30/2016 R03 DE021761 (Fan) NIH/NIDCR 15% Detecting and ranking genetic and clinical risk factors for tooth prognosis The goals of this study are to develop classification and regression tree methods to detect and rank genetic and clinical factors for tooth prognosis, to develop systems that will evaluate the risk of tooth loss, and to extend interaction trees for survival to the multivariate setting.
  • 6/1/2013 – 12/31/2015 R42 DE023003 (Benn) NIH/NIDCR 5%-10% Radiographic contrast to differentiate cavitated from non-cavitated dental caries This project aims to improve the accuracy of tests for early tooth decay (dental caries), specifically for interproximal surfaces (where the posterior teeth abut one another). Hypothesis: Use of radiographic contrast will increase detection of early interproximal cavitated decay from a sensitivity of 18% to 70% or higher.
  • 04/01/14 – 03/31/16 R03 DE023372 (Bandyopadhyay) NIH/NIDCR 7% Exploring tooth survival using Bayesian spatial models In this project we develop a statistical method to recommend treatment for periodontal disease including the time until next visit.
