Nicole R. Kaufman
College of Arts and Sciences
While in graduate school, Dr. Kaufman's early research studies took a fortuitous turn. What began as an attempt to design a suicide inhibitor for a single enzyme in cancer cells soon became a complex race to determine the kinetic parameters of several newly-discovered enzymes. Postdoctoral studies at the University of Wisconsin-Madison characterized protein-protein interactions between the bacterium Streptococcus pyogenes and human fibronectin.
