Dear Faculty, Staff, and Students,

As the Creighton community joins in the celebration of our country’s newest national holiday, Juneteenth, we pause to reflect on the significance of the day.

We are committed as a University to see that this commemoration of the end of slavery in the United States is not only about honoring the past. Let it equally be about looking forward to expelling the vestiges of racism that still exist today.

Today, June 19, is the actual date marking Juneteenth, but since it falls on a Sunday this year, the University’s official holiday is tomorrow, June 20.
