Applicant Selection
The program director and the application review committee review all applications that meet the above criteria and determine which applicants to invite to an interview. Our interviews take place in November and December on pre-determined interview dates by invitation only. Invitations are sent via email. Applicants will receive correspondence whether or not they are selected to interview.
Applicants will get a chance to meet each other and current residents during an informal gathering the evening prior to the interview.
Interview Day
The interview day begins at 7 a.m. with our surgical grand rounds conference. Immediately following, Robert Fitzgibbons, Jr., MD, surgery chairman, and Marcus Balters, MD, surgery program director, will meet with all interviewees to present an overview of our residency program. Each applicant will then participate in one-on-one interviews with members of our surgical teaching faculty and fourth-year residents, followed by lunch with our faculty and residents.
Residents will be available throughout the day to answer any questions regarding our program and to provide a tour of the hospital. The day concludes at approximately 1:30 pm.
We participate in the NRMP (National Residency Match Program).
