New Creighton app will consolidate campus life in one easy location
The application will initially focus on students, but updates will include features for faculty, staff
This fall, Creighton University is introducing the Creighton app, a mobile phone and web application designed to consolidate dozens of campus resources into one easy-to-use platform.
The app is available for download on Apple and Android devices. Students with Creighton-provided and MyIT-managed iPads will have the app available via the MyIT self-service portal.
The app currently features a number of tools tailored to the student experience, including a comprehensive campus map, a BlueLine dashboard, email access, event listings, dining hall menus and targeted campus alerts.
Other features include:
• Access to shuttle schedule information
• A library dashboard featuring reservations for pickup, overdue items and due-soon items
• A link to reserve library study rooms
• A laundry dashboard showing real-time laundry availability and offering text alerts when cycles complete
• Links to online mental health counseling modules
• Zoom access
“The Creighton app creates a new streamlined virtual student experience that will allow our students to more easily engage with life on campus in one place,” says Lucas Novotny, MBA’13, senior director of Housing and Auxiliary Services in the Division of Student Life. “Additionally, we know that more and more features will be added as time goes on, this is just the foundation. This type of experience has been the desire of our students for quite some time, and I am excited for the launch of the Creighton app.”
Future updates will include personalized student schedules; a campus directory featuring contact information for students, faculty and staff; and a dashboard for JayBucks and Dining Dollars, in which students can check their balances and add funds. Features are accessible through a series of live and static tiles, which users can arrange and customize on their home screen.
The app can also be accessed via web browser by visiting app.creighton.edu.
Developed by Creighton’s Division of Information Technology and Library Services using ExLibris’ CampusM platform, the app will initially focus on the student experience, but later updates will include features useful for faculty and staff, says Apoorva Chaturvedi, senior product manager in the Division of IT.
The user experience will be customized based on the user’s role on campus – student, faculty, staff or guest – with certain features only available to each role, Chaturvedi says. Updates will roll out on a regular basis.
“We hope the Creighton app will become an indispensable tool for all of our University stakeholders, streamlining the online campus experience and keeping us all connected as one Creighton community,” Chaturvedi says.
