On June 29, Creighton University President, the Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD, released the following statement:

Dear Students, Faculty, and Staff,

Earlier today, the Supreme Court issued a decision that alters how higher education institutions consider race within the college admissions process. Like other universities and colleges around the nation, Creighton is determining how this ruling will impact our processes; however, what will not change is our Jesuit, Catholic identity and mission, as well as our call to acknowledge and respect the contributions of every individual.

Creighton University has and will continue to apply a holistic approach to our admissions processes; one that places value on the whole person, their experiences, and their place in our community. And, as our University navigates the immediate and longer-term impacts of today’s decision, our North Star remains providing a supportive environment for students, faculty, and staff across all backgrounds, lived experiences, and faiths.

In the coming days and weeks, we will continue to collaborate with institutions across the Association of Jesuit Colleges and Universities; Association of Catholic Colleges and Universities; and BIG EAST schools to forge the best possible path forward.

While there is much left to resolve, we remain committed to ensuring our student body and learning environment are representative of the community and world our graduates will serve.
