May 15, 2017: Strategic Plan Goal Stewards and Goal Work Group Updates
To maintain our considerable momentum on strategic planning, the good and important work of the Goal Stewards and Goal Work Groups will continue over the summer months. The community consensus to focus and move forward with strategic planning requires constant commitment of time and talent despite the ebb and flow of the academic calendar. At a planning retreat on June 7, Goal Stewards will gather with members of the President’s Planning Committee and the President’s Council to take stock of our progress and chart the course for this summer. These efforts should have us poised to submit a plan to the Board of Trustees in the middle of the next academic year.
Throughout the process, we have continued our commitment to transparency and robust communication. We recently completed a series of Campus Forums where Goal Stewards shared their visions and heard our community’s desires for their Goal Categories. These sessions were well attended and well received, with more than 375 individuals at one or more of the Campus Forums. We have also received rich and candid feedback that has already informed our work and prompted follow-up from the Goal Stewards. These gatherings showed that the Goal Work Groups have begun the critical work of developing Goals and Tactics.
As the summer begins, I know that the change of season also brings a change to the routines of some members of our community. This may mean working at different times or a different place. Regardless of your circumstances, whether you are near or far, I will share strategic planning information over the summer months through:
- Monthly strategic planning email messages with information regarding strategic planning progress and accomplishments.
- Announcements of additional Campus Forums or other events as needed.
- Steering Committee member reports to their constituents.
- President’s Town Hall and Planning Workshop to be held in September.
As always, I welcome your continued feedback and support; please feel free to submit your comments and questions through the Strategic Planning website.
I am grateful to all in our campus community for sustaining your efforts in support of an even bolder future for our University. You have my blessings for the summer, as well as my wish that you will have time to renew and refresh with family and friends.
