March 27, 2018: Dr. James "Vic" Lupo
With a heavy heart, I share the sad news that Dr. James “Vic” Lupo, an associate professor in the Department of Psychological Science in the College of Arts and Sciences, died this morning. He had taught at the University since 1977, and had long been active in pre-health advising.
Our colleagues in the Division of Mission and Ministry have been meeting with the family and faculty, staff, and students in the department, and additional support and counseling are available.
Grief counseling for students, faculty, and staff
The Center for Health and Counseling will work to accommodate walk-ins today and this week for anyone who cannot schedule an appointment in advance. If a student is experiencing a crisis, he or she should contact Public Safety (402.280.2104) to get assistance 24 hours a day.
For faculty and staff
Counselors are available for individual and group sessions through Creighton’s Employee Assistance Program (EAP). Please call 800.424.4831.
Spiritual and Pastoral Care: The Jesuit priests, the Division of Mission and Ministry staff ministers, especially Campus Ministry, and the chaplains of the colleges and residence halls are visibly available to people who need or desire spiritual counsel, guidance or opportunity for sacramental support.
The Campus Ministry office is staffed throughout the week in lower Swanson Hall for anyone needing support. Campus Ministry staff members will be available for special gatherings as needed.
Please hold Vic’s family, friends, students, and colleagues in your prayers during this difficult time. We will share additional details about the funeral services when they become available.
