As we have communicated to campus, this morning around 8:30 two students in our graduate-level Christian Spirituality Program were struck by a vehicle while crossing 24th Street by Deglman Circle in an apparent hit-and-run.
Our Public Safety officers responded immediately to the scene, and Creighton officials have been continually monitoring the health of the two victims, who were taken to a local hospital. While both individuals sustained significant injuries, thankfully none were life-threatening. We appreciate all of those who were praying for the two individuals, and we ask that you continue to hold them in your prayers as they recuperate.
Thanks to the work of Creighton Public Safety and local law enforcement, the vehicle and the suspect have been located.
Ensuring the safety of all individuals on our campus is a priority for Creighton University. Our campus master plan calls for a re-envisioning of the busy 24th Street corridor, and this latest event expedites my concerns and the reprioritizing of this part of our plan. In the interim, we will continue to monitor safety issues at this location, and we pray for the speedy and full recovery of the two victims.
