Presidential message

I am pleased to share the news that I have hired Creighton alumnus Jeffrey Feldhaus to serve as Special Assistant to the President and Board Liaison in my office. Jeff brings exceptional organizational qualities to the position and I am very glad to welcome him back to Creighton University.

Jeff is from Omaha, where he attended St. Vincent de Paul and Roncalli High School, and later Creighton, where he earned his Bachelor’s in Exercise Science and Pre-Health Professions. Following his undergraduate work, Jeff completed post-graduate work at Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University, earning his Master of Science in Forest Resources and Environmental Conservation. It was at Virginia Tech that he began his professional career, advancing in the university’s Intramural Sports program, where most recently he served as Assistant Director, overseeing several strategic planning and financial facets of a program that serves 8,000+ student, faculty, staff, and community participants. Jeff is also an accomplished presenter, and uniquely, an active sports official, serving as an NCAA referee for basketball and football.

As Special Assistant, Jeff’s strategic planning and oversight background will be vital as he organizes and coordinates the work of the Board, working closely with me, our Board Chair and Vice Chairs (you might recall our Board leadership announcement in mid-May and the election of two vice chairs), individual Trustees, and senior leadership of the University. He will also manage the administrative affairs of the Office of the President, organizing activities related to Presidential and University committees, assist with internal and external communications, attend meetings on my behalf for representation and documentation, and manage projects and key strategic initiatives while providing me with updates in these areas.

Jeff has made no secret of his desire to become a Bluejay again. Indeed, he and his wife, Jordan, are glad to move back closer to family in Omaha, including many of Jeff’s five siblings. His father, Steven Feldhaus, earned both his undergraduate and medical degree from Creighton, serving as an associate professor in the Department of Surgery for a number of years, and currently serves on the medical school’s Alumni Advisory Committee. Too, his grandfather, Richard, graduated from Creighton’s medical school and served in very similar faculty and alumni advisory roles. Jeff’s mother, Elizabeth Feldhaus, worked in education at Roncalli for a number of years and served on the board of education for both Roncalli and St. Vincent de Paul Catholic School.

Jeff is eager to serve the Creighton community with the spirit of our Jesuit mission and values, and I am excited for him to join my office, and to welcome him home.

Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD
