Theatre Major (BA and BFA)
Get hands-on experiences in performance, crew, design and directing with Creighton’s Bachelor of Arts and Bachelor of Fine Arts degrees in theatre. Whether you want to be on stage or behind the scenes, you’ll actively learn all aspects of theatre, including research, production, acting, directing, lighting, sound, scenery, costuming and theatre history.
Theatre is a collaborative art in which each person is respected and useful to the production. Creighton’s Lied Education Center for the Arts, which houses a proscenium theatre, black box theatre and a dance studio, presents yearly performances of theatre, musical theatre and dance.

Small classes allow for individualized instruction as you pursue a Bachelor of Arts (BA) and Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) in theatre at Creighton.
As a theatre major, you will:
- See and work with every aspect of a performance from start to finish
- Learn and practice technical, artistic and performance skills
- Gain an understanding of the history of theatre

Along with Creighton’s core requirements, there are 40 credits within the Bachelor of Arts (BA) in theatre curriculum.

Theatre Minor
The theatre minor offers you a broad-based education in the theatrical arts. Gain experience in acting, directing, theatre history, television, stagecraft and design with the 18 credits required of the minor.
Admissions Requirements
Creighton admissions are based upon:
- High school GPA
- ACT or SAT scores*
- Extracurricular activities
- Personal statement to demonstrate creative abilities not reflected in your transcripts
- Recommendation from high school counselor
- Honors sections and advanced placement courses will enhance a candidate’s application
*For students who are choosing to apply test-optional, ACT/SAT exam scores are not required at the time of application for admission.

Scholarships

Performing arts graduates have pursued graduate study, professional employment, arts administration and private employment (e.g., private music instruction). Employers typically include:

- Performance arts centers
Theatre students participate in four major productions each year, which include opportunities to perform with professionals and members of the community. Additionally, students are involved in the design and direction of one-act plays and a variety of experiences in the field of technical support.
Creighton theatre faculty members actively participate in the local theatre community and help students arrange summer internships and opportunities off-campus during the academic year.
