Schlegel Named Grand Marshal of St. Patrick’s Day Parade

The Rev. John P. Schlegel, S.J., president of Creighton University, will serve as the Grand Marshal for the 133rd annual St. Patrick’s Day celebration by the Ancient Order of Hibernians (AOH) Father Flanagan Division. The parade will be in Omaha’s Old Market area March 12 beginning at 10 a.m.

Other St. Patrick’s events coordinated by AOH include:

  • March 12: Parade and post event at the Nomad Lounge, Ninth and Jones, with Irish bands from 11:30 a.m.-3:30 p.m.

  • March 13: Decorating of General O'Neill's grave in the Holy Sepulcher Cemetery at 4 p.m.; fundraiser for the Madonna School at the Brazen Head Irish Pub, 319 N. 78th St., starting at 6 p.m.

  • March 17: Mass at the Fire Hall, 60th and Grover, 9 a.m.. The annual AOH lunch of corned beef, cabbage, potatoes and carrots at the Fire Hall begins at 11:30 a.m.
