The largest number of Creighton University students ever, 219 students in 27 groups, spent spring break learning and serving in communities both locally and nationally.
The theme for the March 7-11 spring break service trips was, “We are all sisters and brothers.”
The service trips provide students the opportunities to learn about social justice, education, health care, diverse cultures, sustainability and more.
Several new trips were added this year. In Omaha, a new activity featured a five-day program working with local community partners to learn about racial justice movements, past and present. Other Omaha events included a homelessness immersion program, a sustainability educational effort, and work within the Sudanese community.
Begun in 1983, this is the 28th year of Creighton students participating in spring break service trips.
