Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., to be Inaugurated as Creighton’s 24th President

Timothy R. Lannon, S.J., will be inaugurated as Creighton University's 24th president at a formal ceremony at 4 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 30 in the Kiewit Fitness Center on campus. The centerpiece of the ceremony will be Fr. Lannon's inaugural address, which will share his perspective on "The Spirit of Creighton." Fr. Lannon is the first Creighton alumnus to be named president of the University.

In keeping with tradition, the Inaugural Ceremony will include an academic procession of faculty, staff, students, alumni and distinguished guests. Among the invited guests will be delegates from other colleges and universities; religious leaders; state, local and regional officials; representatives from community organizations; Board of Directors members; key supporters and friends of Creighton; Fr. Lannon's family and more.

Creighton events celebrating the inauguration will span over a week, beginning on Sept. 26 and ending Oct. 1. Highlights include a fine arts exhibit, events, exhibits and meditation workshops from the Tibetan monks , a campus theatre production, a law and a health science lecture, a Missioning Mass and a day of community service .

Members of the Creighton community who serve on the Inauguration Committee have also planned for Fr. Lannon to visit Creighton alumni chapters throughout the country over the course of the academic year.
