Seven Creighton Students Receive Reaching Your Potential Scholarships

Seven Creighton University students have been awarded Reaching Your Potential Scholarships by the EducationQuest Foundation.

Joshua Phelps, Omaha, who is studying marketing and earned the highest score to qualify for the scholarships, is the first recipient to earn distinction as a Tammi J. Preston Scholar. The Preston Scholar is named for the former Director of Outreach Services at EducationQuest who passed away in February 2011.

Other students receiving honors include: Steven Buffalohead, Arts and Sciences, junior; Viet Do, Business Administration, junior; Shahd Hazim, Omaha, Arts and Sciences, freshman; Hanh Nguyen, Arts and Sciences, junior; Danielle Turner, Arts and Sciences, junior; and Namrata Sapkota, Arts and Sciences, freshman.

The Reaching Your Potential Scholarship is a $6,000 annual award, renewable based on the recipientís academic standing. EducationQuest Foundation awards scholarships to 15 students annually who face significant obstacles to attending college. For consideration, applicants must be referred by a Nebraska community agency or by a public or private nonprofit college or university in Nebraska.
