Creighton Student Named Miss Rodeo Iowa 2013

Creighton University Arts and Sciences senior Kara Telfer, Underwood, Iowa, was selected as Miss Rodeo Iowa 2013 in early September after a four- day competition. Telfer will graduate in May 2013 with a degree in biology and plans to attend veterinary school after graduation.

Telfer will officially take the Miss Rodeo Iowa title on Jan. 1, 2013. She will travel more than 25,000 miles across the country during her reign promoting the sport of professional rodeo, animal welfare, agriculture and the western lifestyle in Iowa. She will compete for the title of Miss Rodeo America in Las Vegas, Nev., in Dec. 2013.

Miss Rodeo Iowa contestants are judged on rodeo knowledge, current events, equine science, along with competition in horsemanship, impromptu speaking, interviews and a written test.
