Once Again, Creighton Ranked No. 1 in Midwest by U.S. News & World Report

For the 14th year in a row, Creighton University has earned the No. 1 ranking for Midwest Regional Universities in U.S. News & World Report magazine’s 2017 “America’s Best Colleges” edition.

“For 14 consecutive years, U.S. News & World Report has recognized what our students, alumni, faculty, staff, and the wider community have all known since Creighton’s founding in 1878: that this University is a leader in providing an outstanding education and molding students who are academically, spiritually and globally engaged,” said Creighton University President Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD. “We are energized and inspired by the ranking. It confirms and encourages our commitment to the Jesuit, Catholic mission of the University, and to the committed faculty, staff and students who call Creighton home.”

Nationally, for the third year in a row, Creighton was also one of 36 universities around the country to be acknowledged for an emphasis on undergraduate research/creative projects. Creighton is the lone Catholic university on the list. The recognition stems from U.S. News and World Report’s invitation to academic administrators at 1,500 colleges and universities to nominate up to 10 institutions embarking upon the most innovative research projects with undergraduates.

Creighton was also one of 22 schools recognized for internship programs encouraging students to apply classroom learning with real-world experience. The University is also the only Catholic university in the category.

Creighton maintained its place as No. 1 for Best College for Veterans in the Midwest region. The University achieved a No. 4 placement for Best Undergraduate Teaching in the region and was also No. 3 in the Midwest in the Most Innovative Schools category. The U.S. News & World Report rankings criteria include academic reputation and peer assessment, graduation and retention rates, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving.

The Heider College of Business also earned recognition as one of the Top 100 Best Undergraduate Business Programs, with a No. 12 ranking in Finance, a No. 15 ranking in Accounting and a No. 21 ranking in Management Information Systems.

The University also earned a No. 2 ranking in the Midwest for its freshman retention rate.

Creighton University is a Jesuit, Catholic university bridging health, law, business and the arts and sciences for a more just world.
