Eyewash Inspections

Eyewashes need to be inspected once per week by laboratory personnel.   We have an eyewash inspection log available for download.

Environmental Health and Safety will inspect all eyewashes and safety showers twice per year.  The green and white tag attached to your eyewash is for EH&S to record their inspections.

This weekly inspection is necessary to ensure that the water is clean and that the eyewash is functioning properly.   An emergency is not the time to find out that your eyewash doesn't work!

What do I have to do?

This does not need to be elaborate.   Simply run the eyewash for a few minutes.

Note any leaks or mechanical problems and report them to Facilities Management using the Service Request Form

Make sure to replace the caps to keep dust and other contaminants out of the nozzles.

It's that simple!
