Am I Eligible?

If you are interested in working as a research assistant for one of the Senior Associates at the Carnegie Institute, in Washington, DC, you must be a senior or have graduated within the past year, and who has not begun any graduate-level study.  According to the website, junior fellows have the opportunity to work “on the Carnegie Endowment's projects such as non-proliferation, democracy building, trade, US leadership, China-related issues and Russian/Eurasian studies. Junior Fellows have the opportunity to conduct research for books, co-author journal articles and policy papers, participate in meetings with high-level officials, contribute to congressional testimony and organize briefings attended by scholars, activists, journalists and government officials.”

What Will I Receive?

Fellows receive $2916.66 per month for a full year, as well as a full benefits package.  All fellowships begin on 1 August and continue for one year.

How Do I Apply?

You cannot apply or obtain materials directly from the Carnegie Institute. You must obtain an application directly through the faculty representative.

According to the website, “The application process is highly competitive. Approximately 5% of applicants are ultimately selected for positions. Applications are judged on the quality of the written essay, related academic study and/or work experience, grades, recommendations, and personal interviews.”
