Online Courses in Negotiation & Conflict Resolution.

Conflict exists. Between individuals. Within families. In our homes and in our workplaces. In our local communities and in the world at large. Conflict is often seen as a negative. But we believe in looking at conflict and asking, “How can we productively engage in conflict to inspire innovation and creativity?”

This summer, take a course in Negotiation and Conflict Resolution (NCR), and gain the theoretical and practical knowledge to help you make a difference in your life, and in your community.

NCR 212 Conflict Engagement/Negotiation – 3 credit hours

  • 5-week online class open to all undergraduate students
  • June 5 – July 8
  • Overview:
    • Recognize a wide range of contexts in which conflict occurs.
    • Compare and contrast styles of negotiation.
    • Reflect on your own strengths and weaknesses as a negotiator.

NCR 620 Introduction to Negotiation and Dispute Resolution* – 3 credit hours

  • 7-week online class open to current juniors and seniors
  • May 8 – June 25
  • Overview:
    • Learn about the three major roles of a conflict specialist.
    • Understand the theories of communication and conflict.
    • Appreciate the psychological biases and barriers in addressing conflict.

NCR 624 Dynamics of Conflict * – 3 credit hours

  • 7-week online class open to current juniors and seniors
  • May 8 – June 25
  • Overview:
    • Understand the nature, meaning and dynamics of conflict, and the challenges of communication in interpersonal, inter-group, and intra-group settings.
    • Examine relationships that drive conflict, including power and culture.
    • Apply tools of effective communication in conflict, including listening and reframing.

*Minimum GPA required: Juniors: 3.5; Seniors: 3.0
