I am a lifelong Nebraskan, born and raised in a farming community in a little town west of Kearney called Sumner. I attended Midland Lutheran College in Fremont for my undergraduate. Fell in love while in college and married right after graduation, 28 years later, and still together!
My husband Don and I have two children. Ryan is 26 and Ashlee is 23. We have two fur babies; Max is an 8-year-old Multipoo, and Bella is a wild and crazy 2-year-old 40-pound Mini Goldendoodle.
I worked at CHI for 32 years before coming to Creighton. Peri Anesthesia has been my passion for the past 30 years. I have immensely enjoyed working with students from all nursing programs as a preceptor and mentor in the perianesthesia world. I am an active member of my professional association ASPAN (nationally) and (locally) NAPAN. I hold certification in Peri Anesthesia Care (CPAN). I work in preoperative care, second scrub intraoperative, and work in the recovery room. Teaching life support classes, presenting perioperative education classes, being a Midline champion, and being a staff supervisor have filled my bucket.
I graduated in May 2021 with a double masters degree in nursing and business from Nebraska Wesleyan University in Omaha. I am currently working on my doctoral degree in education. I am a member of Sigma Theta Tau which is an International Honor Society of Nursing, I hold the current treasurer position for the Tota Tau chapter. I am a faculty facilitator for the Interprofessional Education (IPE) offerings through the Center for Interprofessional Practice, Education, and Research (CIPER).
