AFRICAN STUDIES PROGRAM
African Studies: A new opportunity at Creighton University for students to build their knowledge of the global village.
Creighton established the African Studies Program to enhance student's educational choices, strengthen the cultural diversity of the campus, broaden our already strong international studies programs and to serve as a resource for people interested in learning more about Africa. Community outreach will be an important component of the program.
From the Director: “The distinctive focus of the program is in-depth studies of contemporary Africa,“ said Dr. Wunsch, professor of political science and international relations and director of the program.
“Four of Creighton’s faculty have extensive field experience throughout Africa, and nearly 40 African students are pursuing undergraduate degrees at Creighton,” said Wunsch.
“With growing American awareness of African’s diplomatic and economic importance, it seemed a good time to integrate Creighton’s strengths in this area, bring people with a serious interest in Africa together, and offer students an opportunity to study Africa in a systematic and rigorous way,” Wunsch said.
