Occupational Therapy Clinicians Become Leaders Through Postgraduate Fellowship Programs

Advance your career through the Creighton University School of Pharmacy and Health Professions Occupational Therapy Fellowship programs. Our programs were developed exclusively for occupational therapists who are new graduates or early in their professional careers who want to become specialists and leaders in their area of practice.

The Pediatric, Neurology, and Gerontology Fellowship Programs are approved fellowship programs through AOTA.

Applications are open! November 1, 2023 – January 14, 2024

Before starting this online application, please allow ample time to complete it, as it does not allow for you to save and return at another time.  The online application must be started and completed in the same session.

We are providing a pdf version example of the application for your information and convenience, but all applications must be completed and submitted using the online application links.  Please do not submit the PDF.

Application Criteria

  • Graduate from Accredited Occupational Therapy Doctorate Program preferred. Will consider applicants from Accredited Occupational Therapy Master’s Programs.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills both verbal and written in clinical and academic settings.
  • Recommend completion of a Level II Fieldwork, Doctoral Capstone Experience, or practice experience in fellowship program related practice setting.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and teamwork abilities to work with a variety of individuals including family members, clients, community members and other professionals.

  • List of three professional references 
  • Occupational Therapy academic transcript
  • Review a copy of the application form

3. Applications will be reviewed by a panel of faculty members, and qualified candidates will be invited for an on-site interview.

The Creighton University  Occupational Therapy Fellowship Programs in Pediatrics, Neurology, and Gerontology align with the mission of creating reflective occupational therapy practitioners who serve clients and their families with a focus on respect for diversity, local, national and global service and holistic care.

Fellows will receive mentoring support by clinical faculty and other occupational therapy experts in the areas of clinical practice, professional communication, interprofessional collaboration, clinical and ethical reasoning, evidence-based practice, academia, specialized topics, advocacy and community service.

A Valued Member of the Creighton Team

Fellowships are 12-month long programs that begin August 1 of each year. Total clinical practice time will be the equivalent of three to four days per week. Fellows have the opportunity to teach specialty content throughout the entry-level occupational therapy curriculum and clinical labs. Fellows are a valued member of the team and a salaried Creighton employee with benefits, with no up-front tuition requirement for the experience.

The Creighton University Occupational Therapy Fellowship programs strive to:

  • Foster development of expert clinical skills in new practitioners through mentored practice, didactic learning, interprofessional education, and self-assessment and reflection.
  • Foster development of critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills through self-guided discovery and research.
  • Support growth of the occupational therapy profession through mentored training of skills in academia, scholarship, and through support of local, national, and international service initiatives to enhance the lives of others.
  • Live out the Ignatian values in the delivery of occupational therapy services and in the education of entry-level occupational therapy students.
  • Deliver high quality, team-based, interprofessional care for clients and education to entry-level occupational therapy students.
