MarytLongo@creighton.edu

As a member of Creighton's English Department for over 12 years, Mary Longo has taught composition and world literature as well as online classes for adult students. She became the writing specialist for Student Support Services in September of 2013. In addition, she has served as an RSP advisor for several years, all but one with a cohort of students from Student Support Services. She has taught at the University of Nebraska at Omaha's Writer's Workshop, and, before coming to Creighton, she taught writing and literature at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln for 7 years.

Her passion for the written word, which began with Golden Books and continued through Nancy Drew mysteries and 19th-century British novels, led her to obtain a B.A. in English at the University of Notre Dame. Her undergraduate years also awakened her love for the academic life, especially teaching, so she went on to get an M.A. in English from Creighton and a Ph.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. This Jersey girl considers herself fortunate to be living in Nebraska and working at Creighton, especially in SSS!

kelleysanders@creighton.edu

Kelley works for 2 departments, serving as the Administrative Assistant for Student Support Services and the Office of Disability Accommodations.  Kelley set aside her education goals to raise her 5 children but is now finishing her bachelor's degree here at Creighton. Her son Aron, a first generation student himself, just graduated with his bachelor's in criminal justice from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. He was a member of Student Support Services at UNL, and this helped him reach his graduation goals. Prior to coming to Creighton, Kelley managed projects for the EPA, cleaning up lead-contaminated paint and soil in the Omaha area. She also served as a mentor for teenagers who were involved in the juvenile court system. She recently witnessed one of her mentees graduate from college. Kelley hopes all students and young people will succeed; she says, I want all young adults to achieve their goals, even while dealing with obstacles. Outside of Creighton, Kelley enjoys spending time with her family. They enjoy Creighton Basketball games, farmers markets, bowling and other community activities.
