1997 Pamphlet advertising “Aesop, the Leather Alternative.” 13 pages presenting an array of faux-leather products. 5.75” x 10.75”. North Cambridge, MA: Aesop, Inc. Sent to me by Aesop, Inc.
“Let Live. Be Free. Don’t Wear Animal Skins.” That is the motto on the label page of this advertising booklet sent out celebrating Aesop’s 10th anniversary. Attempts to find if Aesop, Inc. has lasted until now in 2026 have found nothing. I was tempted, probably in 1997 and certainly now, to toss this pamphlet away when I noticed on the inside front cover their connection with Aesop’s fables. It seems the only reference to fable in the whole pamphlet. A cow sitting in an easy chair holds in his lap a booklet of Aesop’s fables which he has presumably been reading.
