1900? Large matted and framed image of 6 fable panels. Copy of a sewn piece? 21" x 11.5". Unknown source.
This seems at first something like a collection of elaborate trade cards. The five scenes on the left are easily identified: TH; FS; FS; DS; and WL. Does the sixth picture two dogs running side by side? My best guess is that it is DW; notice the collar around the further animal. Somebody expended significant effort to present this image worthily!
2000 Two out of six illustrations 12” x 9.5” in padded frames with easels, BF and TH. Easels and original boxes. Art copyrighted by Ram Pam Inc. Li-Med, Inc, Vernon, CA. Made in China. Unknown source.
This is an unusual pair. Two other of the six illustrations in the series present fables. All of the six are unusual in that they come with easels; they are a composition of paper and sewn elements; and they present verse texts as a part of their images. The mysteries continue in that Ram Pam seems no longer to exist, and Li-Med is a software company still in Vernon. The images themselves are curious in their combination of colors and compositional materials. The verse itself is rhymed, sometimes a bit forcefully. The race lasted ten miles! The hare stopped and ordered a “Mac in a sack.” Oh, my! And, yes, the tortoise won by a hair. The silver-and-black elements are unusual in BF.
