1980? Vinyl window seal of the York Minster’s stained glass representation of “The Spider and the Wren.” Chris Locke Graphics. £3.99 from the York Minster Shop, August, ’01.
The story here is of a wren about to eat a spider. The spider pleaded for mercy and promised to give the wren something that would save his life. The wren agreed, and the spider spun out a great thread with which the wren could line his nest. Soon the wren decided to spin a thread himself. He sat for a long time and no thread appeared, but he did lose his tail. This 15th-century stain glass window in the York Minster is apparently both famous and beloved.
