Now here is a bargain! I had known of Kuekes’ work through cheap black-and-white reprints. This set is so much better! As I noted then, Kuekes is absolutely faithful to the traditional fables. Each strip has a last frame with a moral; the action of the rabbit and mouse there may or may not relate directly to the fable and its moral.
