Zambak Ezop Masallari

2013 Altin Ymurtlayan Kaz (Gold Spawning Goose).  Mustafa Pala.  Illustrated by Serdal Arslan.  Pamphlet.  Istanbul: Ezop Masallari: Zambak Yayinlari.  $7.50 from yellow red black through Ebay, 1/22.  .

There are five stories in this 40-page pamphlet, with spirited colored illustrations on every page: WSC; GGE; FC; AD; and "The Eagle and the Turtle."  I notice several surprises in the way in which at least the pictures tell their stories.  The wolf escapes the shepherd after he has been found out in the sheepskin.  It looks like the crow does not yield the Swiss cheese to the fox.  The turtle seems to have survived his flying experience.  One of four pamphlets in a series.  5¼" x 7¾ ".

2013 Akilli Karga (Smart Crow).  Mehmet Azim.  Illustrated by Serdal Arslan.  Pamphlet.  Istanbul: Ezop Masallari: Zambak Yayinlari.  $7.50 from yellow red black through Ebay, 1/22.  .

There are five stories in this 40-page pamphlet, with spirited colored illustrations on every page: "Fox and Eagle"; "Monkey and Fox"; CP; "Fox and Goat"; and DW.  The first fable, about the fox bringing fire to get the eagle to surrender the stolen cub, takes some 13 pages.  The second has the fox besting the monkey for kingship.  In the cover story, the jug apparently needs to be tipped so that the crow -- or crows? -- can get water from it.  Perhaps the last picture of the pamphlet is best: we see over the dog's shoulder as the wolf runs away.  One of four pamphlets in a series.  5¼" x 7¾ ".

2013 Degirmenci ve Oglu (Miller and Son).  Mehmet Azim.  Illustrated by Louis Lee.  Pamphlet.  Istanbul: Ezop Masallari: Zambak Yayinlari.  $7.5 from yellow red black through Ebay, 1/22.

There are two stories in this 40-page pamphlet, with frequent spirited colored illustrations: MSA and TMCM.  The cover illustration of MSA is excellent!  Laughing women point to the rustic threesome.  Each phase is pictured well, starting with the father lovingly hoisting his small son onto the beast.  The emphasis in the "carrying" illustration is on the smiles of the spectators by contrast with the sweat of father, son, and beast.  The picturing of the fall over the side of the bridge is wonderfully active.  The cat in the city is huge and aggressive.  The final image of TMCM is charming: the country mouse sits, maybe sleeping, with a slightly nibbled ear of corn.  One of four pamphlets in a series.  5¼" x 7¾ ".

2013 Yaban Kugulari (Wild Swans).  Hans Christian Andersen, translated by Mehmet Azim.  Illustrated by Mehmet Sevinc.  Pamphlet.  Istanbul: Andersen Masallari: Zambak Yayinlari.  $7.50 from yellow red black through Ebay, Jan., '22.

There are six stories in this 40-page pamphlet, which I include in the collection because it is a part of a series with three others consisting of Aesop's fables.  The beginning T of C lists the stories:  "The King's Children"; "Elisa's Journey"; "Wild Swans"; "Difficult Journey"; "Dead Nettle"; and "The King's Palace."  The illustrations suggest that the stories are all part of one story or perhaps one cycle of stories.  The illustrations are less playful than others in the series.  5¼" x 7¾ ".
