Medical Teams & Other Programs
Non-Creighton Programs at ILAC
Creighton-ILAC partners with many high schools, universities, and volunteer medical teams to facilitate educational immersions at the ILAC-CESI Center in Santiago, Dominican Republic.
Working closely with our partner and host, Centro de Educacion para la Salud Integral (CESI), Creighton-ILAC helps support various medical and surgery teams in the Dominican Republic throughout the year. The ILAC-CESI campus is home to an outpatient surgical center that is utilized for these programs.
Surgeons and teams travel from around the United States and the world to donate their time and services in partnership with Mision ILAC and local medical professionals. Specialty teams include:
- Hernia Surgical Teams
- Orthopedic Surgical Teams
- ENT Surgical Team
- Ophthalmology Team
- Optometry Team
For more information current surgical and medical programs or to inquire about potential new program needs, please contact CESI directly. Visit the CESI/Mision ILAC Website for contact information.
Creighton-ILAC works with a variety of high schools, colleges, and universities both inside and outside of Nebraska to create Ignatian-based service-learning immersion experiences for participants. For these groups Creighton University provides logistical scheduling support, pre-departure formation and orientation information, on-site support, and serves as the link between the organization and the ILAC staff and rural communities.
Groups current working with Creighton-ILAC include:
- Boston College High School
- Chicago-Loyola Nursing Program
- Creighton Prep High School
- Duchesne Academy
- Marian High School
- Marquette High School
- Mercy High School
- Regis Jesuit High School

For Non-Creighton Groups:

While we would love to welcome all groups to the ILAC campus, our program calendar is quite full with the recurring programs we have on the schedule already! New programs are considered on a case-by-case basis, and several factors are taken into consideration including the program mission and fit with Creighton’s mission, the community impact and sustainability of the program, and staffing feasibility based on current program scheduling. To begin a conversation, please contact Jill Muegge, ILAC Director - Omaha, at JillMuegge@creighton.edu

There is no pre-set program schedule or program cost. Rather, each program that Creighton-ILAC works with has a customized program calendar and the activities on that calendar partially determine part of what the cost of the program will be. Other factors include program length, number of participants, and more.
We are grateful for volunteers who give of their time and service at ILAC! There are no rolling volunteer opportunities at ILAC-CESI. Rather, professionals in the medical field are encouraged to explore volunteering in the ILAC Summer Health Program during the month of July. More details are online here!
