University Research Award

University Research Award

About the Award

The University Research Award is presented annually at the President's Convocation to recognize faculty for outstanding research and creative work. Nominations are due by Wednesday, November 15, 2023.

Nominees must have a demonstrated record of nationally and internationally recognized research or creative work; must have engaged in scholarship that provides significant contributions to their profession or discipline; and must have a record of research and publication/creative accomplishment while at Creighton University. Nominations can come from any faculty member or department chair/school director in the University. The University Research Council recommends awarding two faculty each year with one in the health sciences and one in a non-health science area.

The nomination package must include:

  • a nominee's personal statement describing their research area, contributions to their field of study, and any collaborative work with faculty/students on-and off-campus.
  • full career vita
  • an endorsement letter by a Creighton faculty member or department chair/school director, and
  • at least one (but no more than three) external letter(s) of support

About the Awards

The Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Award for Teaching Achievement is annually awarded at the May Commencement Ceremony. All current full-time faculty members are eligible to receive the award, provided they have had full-time status for a period of no less than two consecutive years preceding the nomination.  Nominations for the award may be made by professional, graduate, or undergraduate students.

The following criteria will be used for selection by the committee.  You may add additional support information if warranted.

  • Competence of subject area.
  • Ability to inspire students and to present subject matter in an interesting and effective manner so as to stimulate maximum learning.
  • Considerable interest and concern for students as individuals.
  • Service to the students and to the University.
  • Cannot be a previous winner of the award.
