Parents of Admitted Students

Choosing the best option.

Your undergraduate student has completed their application and been offered admission to Creighton University! They have the opportunity to join thousands of successful alumni throughout the world who are lifelong Bluejays. It’s likely your student has options at other institutions as well, and now comes the time to discover where your student will thrive.

Dates to Keep in Mind

  • November 1: Early Action deadline
  • December 1: Priority consideration for admission and scholarships
  • February 1: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Preferred Deadline to be considered for the maximum amount of need-based aid (Creighton, federal, state, and private)
  • Early March: Financial aid packages will be emailed to students. This details the full cost of attendance, as well as any need-based or merit-based aid that has been awarded.
  • May 1: The deposit deadline for fall

Schedule a Visit

Once a student is admitted, we suggest these visit options and events (both in-person and virtual). If you have questions, reach out to your admissions counselor to discuss the best option.

The student portal is a personalized website that allows students to track their next steps, submit their deposit, complete supplemental applications, and much more. Encourage your student to check their portal often to stay up-to-date.

Understanding Decision Day

Be sure to understand the timeline that students need to follow related to making their final college decision. The National Candidates Reply Date is May 1. Colleges hold space in their class, offers of admission, financial aid, and academic scholarship for students through May 1. Early Decision acceptances and athletic scholarships are the only exceptions to this rule.

Getting Your Questions Answered

We are here to help guide you and your family through this process. We want to hear from you and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Call or email your student’s admissions counselor, who is your main point of contact throughout the entire college search.

Filing the FAFSA

We encourage every family to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), even families who do not believe they would qualify for need-based aid. It is the best way to ensure all avenues have been explored in finding any aid opportunities for your student. The FAFSA opens in December for the upcoming school year. This means students enrolling in college in fall of 2024 will be able to complete the FAFSA beginning December of 2023. (Be sure you are completing the FAFSA for the correct aid year, as the previous year’s FAFSA is still accessible at this point.) The priority deadline for completing the FAFSA is February 1 of senior year.

Student Life on Campus

We make our students feel right at home in our residence halls and dining halls. We also encourage them to get involved in student life and college activities.

We’re committed to public safety. Officers trained in CPR, first aid, and crime-prevention patrol our campus and assist our students. Find out more about the state of public safety at Creighton today.

We’re located in a progressive, vibrant city; there are a million things to do in Omaha. Our students love living here, and many find summer internship opportunities in Omaha’s booming private sector.
