Parents of Admitted Students

Choosing the best option.

Your student has completed their application and been offered admission to Creighton University! They have the opportunity to join thousands of successful alumni throughout the world who are lifelong Bluejays. It’s likely your student has options at other institutions as well, and now comes the time to discover where your student will thrive.

Investing in the Future

Your student is investing in themselves in seeking a college education, and we are successful at getting our graduates where they want to be. In fact, 99% of them are employed full-time, in graduate or professional school, or in a full-time service program within six months of graduation. We also have individualized advising from day one, which is key to graduating in four years - something that greatly impacts the overall cost of an education.

We know the authentic value of an education can’t be measured in dollars and cents.

It’s in the ah-ha moments, the eurekas, the sweat and breakthroughs. It’s in the memory of a perfect spring afternoon and the lifelong friendship that began on a stroll through campus. It’s in the spiritual tranquility and confidence that come with discovering who you are and what you want to do.

This is the kind of education Creighton delivers. We also give our graduates the knowledge and skills they need to stand out on the job market and thrive in their careers. Student Life on Campus

We make our students feel right at home in our residence halls and dining halls. We also encourage them to get involved in student life and college activities.

We’re committed to public safety. Officers trained in CPR, first aid, and crime-prevention patrol our campus and assist our students. Find out more about the state of public safety at Creighton today.

We’re located in a progressive, vibrant city; there are a million things to do in Omaha. Our students love living here, and many find summer internship opportunities in Omaha’s booming private sector.

Choosing a Program

With nine schools and colleges and over 140 programs to choose from, there are many academic options at Creighton. Freshmen are not allowed to formally declare a major*, which gives them up to two years to explore options before deciding on a major.

*The only exception to this is our direct-entry nursing program. Students who are considering nursing are strongly encouraged to apply to the College of Nursing when completing their application for admission. Be sure to ask your student’s admissions counselor any questions about this.

Schedule a Visit

Once a student is admitted, we suggest these visit options and events (both in-person and virtual). If you have questions, reach out to your admissions counselor to discuss the best option.

Student Portal

The student portal is a personalized website that allows students to track their next steps, submit their deposit, complete supplemental applications, and much more. Encourage your student to check their portal often to stay up-to-date.

Understanding Decision Day

Be sure to understand the timeline that students need to follow related to making their final college decision. The National Candidates Reply Date is May 1. Colleges hold space in their class, offers of admission, financial aid, and academic scholarship for students through May 1. Early Decision acceptances and athletic scholarships are the only exceptions to this rule.

Dates to Keep in Mind

November 1: Early Action deadline
December 1: Priority consideration for admission and scholarships
February 1: Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) Preferred Deadline to be considered for the maximum amount of need-based aid (Creighton, federal, state, and private)
Early March: Financial aid packages will be emailed to students. This details the full cost of attendance, as well as any need-based or merit-based aid that has been awarded.
May 1: The deposit deadline for fall

Filing the FAFSA

We encourage every family to file the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), even families who do not believe they would qualify for need-based aid. It is the best way to ensure all avenues have been explored in finding any aid opportunities for your student. The FAFSA opens in December for the upcoming school year. This means students enrolling in college in fall of 2024 will be able to complete the FAFSA beginning December of 2023. (Be sure you are completing the FAFSA for the correct aid year, as the previous year’s FAFSA is still accessible at this point.) The priority deadline for completing the FAFSA is February 1 of senior year.
