Creighton University awards need-based and non-need-based academic scholarships to students enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences, Heider College of Business, and the College of Nursing. The dollar amount of these scholarships varies. To be considered for need-based scholarships, a student must submit the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and apply to Creighton. Creighton does not require the CSS Profile.
All students are evaluated for merit scholarships when they apply to Creighton. You don’t need to fill out a separate application for general merit scholarships. To receive priority consideration for Creighton merit scholarships, submit your application and all required credentials to the Office of Admissions as soon as possible. Scholarships are awarded on a rolling basis with a priority deadline of December 1.
You’ll receive your scholarship decision along with your admissions decision, typically about 4-6 weeks after you complete your application. We begin reading applications in mid-October, so the first admissions and scholarship decisions are sent in early November.
In addition to Creighton Merit Scholarships, Creighton also offers other scholarship opportunities—scholarships that require students to satisfy specific criteria and submit additional required materials, including an Additional Scholarship Application. The Additional Scholarship Applications will be available in the student portal for eligible students.
To be considered for these scholarships, you should submit 1) your Application for Undergraduate Admission and all required credentials by December 1; and 2) the Additional Scholarship Application with all additional required materials to the Admissions Office by January 10 at 11:59 p.m. (in your local time zone).

If a student receives a scholarship, it is generally renewed by maintaining the required cumulative grade point average associated with the scholarship and making normal academic progress toward a degree. Some scholarships are only for one year or term, and this is explained in the announcement letter. Some scholarships are based on financial need in addition to other criteria, and so the FAFSA needs to be completed each ensuing year to remain eligible for renewal.
Scholarship renewal is reviewed at the end of each spring term for the next academic year’s renewal. Students also receive a warning letter after the fall term if their grade average is below the required renewal level. Specific criteria for eligibility and renewal can be found in your scholarship announcement letter or in the University’s catalogs and bulletins.
If you are the recipient of an external scholarship, you must notify the Creighton Financial Aid Office. The Financial Aid office is required by law to adjust federal aid if the addition of an outside scholarship results in an over-award situation.
There are certain times when an outside scholarship may make you ineligible for the federal financial aid you were previously awarded. Your financial aid officer will notify you if a change is made in your aid offer.
All outside scholarship checks should be mailed to:
