Scott Scholars
The Scott Scholarship is Creighton's premier merit-based scholarship, established through the generosity of the Suzanne and Walter Scott Foundation. Designed to attract outstanding business students to Creighton University and the Omaha community, the program develops future leaders while encouraging scholars to build meaningful careers in the region. Scott Scholars are committed to excellence, innovation, and service. Through intentional engagement with Omaha's business and civic leaders, the program provides valuable mentorship, professional development, and networking opportunities. By connecting talented students with the region's leaders, the Scott Scholarship serves as a key initiative to attract and retain future business professionals in Omaha.
Strengths of the Program
- Full-tuition scholarship, room and board, and co-curricular programming for four consecutive years.

- Personalized mentorship through Omaha Connect, pairing each scholar with an accomplished Omaha business leader to expand their local professional network, gain career guidance, and deepen their connection to the city.

- Funding for approved enrichment opportunities, including study abroad, conferences, research, and other transformative educational experiences.
What makes me a good fit for the Scott Scholars program?
Once you apply and are accepted into Creighton’s Heider College of Business, students who meet the eligibility criteria below will automatically receive an invitation through their Creighton applicant portal to apply for the Scott Scholarship:
- Current high school senior
- Minimum 3.8 cumulative GPA (on a 4.0 scale) at the time of admission
- Minimum 28 ACT or 1300 SAT (you must submit a test score to be eligible for this scholarship)
- U.S. citizen
- Intend to pursue a degree in business and a career in the business profession
Strong Candidate Profile
Successful Scott Scholarship applicants typically demonstrate the following qualities:
- A genuine interest in building a career and life in Omaha, Nebraska, following graduation
- A sustained record of academic excellence, intellectual curiosity, and high achievement
- Demonstrated leadership experience with the initiative and desire to continue growing as a leader
- A strong interest in business, evidenced through coursework, extracurricular involvement, employment, entrepreneurship, or other meaningful experiences
- An entrepreneurial mindset characterized by curiosity, innovation, initiative, and a passion for solving problems
- A commitment to making a positive impact on their campus, profession, and community
Scott Scholars Four-year plan
During their first year, Scott Scholars will:
- Enroll in the Scott Scholars RSP section (one-credit freshman seminar, fall semester)
- Attend the Heider College of Business Dean's Executive Speaker Series (weekly, spring semester)
- Participate as a mentee in the Scott Scholars Peer Mentor Program
- Complete Year 1 of the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Program
- Complete Year 1 of the Career Portfolio Program
- Participate in the Dean's Honor Roll for Social Responsibility by completing 25 hours of community service each semester
- Attend Scott Scholar social events, networking opportunities, and special programs throughout the year
- Receive up to $2,000 annually in funding for approved professional development and enrichment experiences
During their sophomore year, Scott Scholars will:
- Enroll in the weekly Scott Scholars Seminar, featuring personal and professional development, company visits, and leadership formation exercises
- Participate in the Omaha Connect Professional Mentor Program as a mentee, building a one-on-one relationship with an Omaha business leader
- Complete Year 2 of the Anna Tyler Waite Leadership Program
- Complete Year 2 of the Career Portfolio Program
- Participate in the Dean's Honor Roll for Social Responsibility by completing 25 hours of community service each semester
- Attend Scott Scholar social events, networking opportunities, and special programs throughout the year
- Receive up to $2,000 annually in funding for approved professional development and enrichment experiences
During their junior year, Scott Scholars will:
- Participate in the Omaha Passport Program, an immersive, behind-the-scenes exploration of Omaha's businesses, neighborhoods, culture, and community assets
- Serve as a peer mentor for incoming Scott Scholars, helping first-year students transition to college and the Scott Scholars program
- Participate in the Dean's Honor Roll for Social Responsibility by completing 25 hours of community service each semester
- Attend Scott Scholar social events, networking opportunities, and special programs throughout the year
- Receive up to $2,000 annually in funding for approved professional development and enrichment experiences
During their senior year, Scott Scholars will:
- Receive on-demand career and entrepreneurial coaching and support
- Serve as a peer mentor for incoming Scott Scholars, investing in the next generation of program leaders
- Participate in the Dean's Honor Roll for Social Responsibility by completing 25 hours of community service each semester
- Attend Scott Scholar social events, networking opportunities, and special programs throughout the year
- Celebrate their Scott Scholar journey at the annual Scott Senior Celebration
- Be recognized at graduation with Scott Scholar honors regalia
- Receive up to $2,000 annually in funding for approved professional development and enrichment experiences
