Scott Gealy studied English and theatre at Nebraska Wesleyan University. After working in indistries ranging from commercial fishing to TV and film production, he returned to Lincoln to complete an English language arts teacher-certification program at the University of Nebraska, Lincoln. He went on to teach high school English for eleven years in Lincoln and Omaha, serving as director of theatre for the first six. Dr. Gealy earned a master’s degree in English with an emphasis on teaching in 2013 and his PhD in education in 2023, both from UNL. His doctoral research explored the impact of gender and culture on men’s decisions to teach high school English and their potential impact on the demographic divide between teachers and students in U.S. schools. At Creighton, Dr. Gealy teaches both graduate and undergraduate courses in education and teacher preparation. His current research examines how knowledge of acting and performance theory can inform classroom teaching practice.
