Research Focus

I am interested in population and community ecology, with a focus on aquatic and riparian ecosystems. I study how different species coexist and interact together in ecosystems, and how their abundances change through time and space in response their environments. My work focuses on ponds, lakes, and streams, and adjacent terrestrial habitats, and includes organisms ranging from algae to trees (with a special fondness for aquatic insects). Undergraduates play a central role in my research, and I am always happy to discuss research opportunities with motivated students!
