Over the last two weeks I’ve been reminded why I am so proud to call myself a Bluejay.

Yesterday at Hinkle Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, I had a chance to watch a group of student-athletes leave their hearts out on the floor against Gonzaga to finish a season that proved to be anything but normal. They advanced further than we had ever been before in the NCAA Tournament, and they did it with grace, class, and hard work. The same can be said for our women’s basketball team, who made their own fantastic run into the postseason this month. Both teams should be incredibly proud of what they accomplished, just as I am so proud of them and ALL of our student-athletes, coaches, athletic staff, and support personnel during such an extraordinary year.

To all our student-athletes, both those still competing and those who have finished their seasons, thank you for representing the very best of what it means to Stay Creighton. Go Jays!

Sincerely,

Rev. Daniel S. Hendrickson, SJ, PhD
