Description
The Department of Education at Creighton University invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track Assistant Professor position specializing in Counseling. These 11-month appointments begin Fall 2026 and include a 3-3-1 teaching load (fall, spring, and summer) with campus presence.
We seek collaborative, mission-driven counselor educators committed to excellence in teaching, supervision, scholarship, and service. Successful candidates will contribute to Creighton’s School Counseling and Clinical Mental Health Counseling programs, both aligned with CACREP 2024 standards, and support the program’s ongoing accreditation and student development processes.
Primary Responsibilities
- Teach graduate-level counseling courses in both school counseling and clinical mental health counseling tracks, using on-campus, online, and hybrid modalities
- Provide weekly individual and group supervision to practicum and internship students in accordance with CACREP supervision standards
- Advise and mentor students on academic, professional, and licensure matters
- Participate in program evaluation and assessment, including data collection, analysis, and reporting for continuous improvement and CACREP compliance
- Contribute to residency weekends or on-campus intensives designed to assess counseling skills and professional dispositions, meeting CACREP’s face-to-face requirements for hybrid and online delivery
- Engage in scholarly research, publication, and conference presentations aligned with counseling education and practice
- Maintain an active professional counselor identity through membership and involvement in ACA, ACES, Chi Sigma Iota, or related professional organizations
- Collaborate with program faculty in curriculum design, CACREP accreditation maintenance, and strategic program development
- Participate in college and university service, mission initiatives, and community engagement consistent with Creighton’s Jesuit values of justice, cura personalis (care for the whole person), and service to others
Qualifications
Required
- Ph.D. in Counselor Education and Supervision from a CACREP-accredited program (earned by July 2026)
- Demonstrated teaching experience in graduate-level counseling courses
- Experience in K–12 school counseling and/or clinical mental health counseling
- Evidence of professional identity as a counselor educator through involvement in professional counseling associations, research, or service
- Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively and collegially with faculty, supervisors, and community partners
- Experience working with and/or supervising diverse populations, with demonstrated multicultural competence
- Experience integrating technology to enhance student learning and expand student access
Preferred
- Licensed or license-eligible as a professional counselor (e.g., LMHP, LPC, or equivalent)
- Licensed or license-eligible as a school counselor in the state of Nebraska (preferred for candidates teaching school counseling courses)
- Experience with CACREP accreditation processes and the 2024 CACREP Standards, including data management, assessment, and program evaluation
- Experience providing clinical supervision to practicum and internship students
- Experience advising and mentoring graduate counseling students
- Experience developing or revising curriculum in CACREP-accredited counseling programs
- Active membership and leadership in professional counseling organizations (ACA, ACES, ASCA, Chi Sigma Iota, or related divisions)
- Familiarity with online and hybrid learning technologies (e.g., Canvas, Zoom, Blackboard) and virtual supervision platforms
- Evidence of scholarly productivity, including peer-reviewed publications, presentations, and grants
- Commitment to advocacy, diversity, and social justice in counselor education consistent with Creighton’s Jesuit mission
