Message from the Family Medicine Director

Thank you for your interest in the Creighton University School of Medicine Phoenix Family Medicine Program. Our program combines the tradition and experience of an established community teaching hospital with the innovation and academic resources of Creighton University School of Medicine to offer residents an outstanding setting for Family Medicine training. Our mission is to work together to achieve academic excellence, to provide comprehensive medical care, to be leaders in our practices and health systems, and to serve our community.

At the Creighton University School of Medicine Phoenix Family Medicine Program we have a faculty group who are dedicated to teaching. Residents who train in our program are welcomed as partners who work together with experienced family physicians in a Federally Qualified Health Center, where we serve a diverse group of patients regardless of income or insurance status. The rotation curriculum is designed to put the outpatient clinic experience at the center of what we do. We also have a strong inpatient service where residents work with our own Family Medicine attendings to care for a diverse patient population with a broad range of range of medical conditions. In other core rotations, residents work with expert teaching faculty from other departments to enhance their education.

Our weekly learning conference includes learning experiences that help residents to develop the diagnostic ability and clinical reasoning skills they need to become excellent physicians. Core primary care topics are taught by our Family Medicine faculty and specialty lectures are provided by our faculty partners in other disciplines from around the medical center. Longitudinal board review and longitudinal quality improvement curriculum promote excellence in scholarship and regular procedure workshops enhance clinical skills.

Our residency program practice provide essential healthcare for a diverse and underserved urban population. In the hospital, in the office and as part of the community, our residents make a difference! We invite you to take time to learn more about our program.
