Service Opportunities for Medical Students

Make An Impact Through Service.

Creighton University School of Medicine is rooted in the Jesuit tradition of service to others. As a Creighton med student, you’ll live that mission surrounded by students who share your commitment to service.

All students are involved in service opportunities in Omaha, nationally and abroad, even though service isn’t a requirement. Whether you’re providing medical care to homeless individuals in Omaha or serving the citizens of the Dominican Republic, you’ll have opportunities to apply your skills while compassionately addressing the needs of disadvantaged communities.

These are just a few of the ways Creighton students serve others. Expand the tabs below to learn more and get involved.

Creighton medical students founded the Magis Clinic to provide medical services to homeless and underserved residents in the Omaha area. The Magis Clinic provides acute care, physical exams, mental health care, immunization clinics, laboratory services and referrals at no charge to those in need. Volunteer students and physicians from Creighton School of Medicine staff the clinic.

Students have the opportunity to spend part of their M1 summer abroad in locations including Gambia, Ghana, Cambodia, Peru, India and Romania, utilizing their skills and compassion to improve the lives of those in need, while learning to appreciate the diverse cultures they serve.

Founded by Creighton, The Institute for Latin American Concern (ILAC) is an international effort to provide service to others. Every summer, Creighton health sciences students, faculty and alumni provide hands-on healthcare and community service to citizens of the Dominican Republic.

All of the service that I have participated in - both on-campus and internationally - has left a lasting impression. As I leave Creighton to pursue my residency in orthopedic surgery, I will continue my passion for service in my everyday life. — Cat OlingerClass of 2015; Estes Park, Colorado
