Message From the Colon and Rectal Surgery Program Director

At Creighton, we are proud of our long tradition of training outstanding colon and rectal surgeons. Our program has an almost unprecedented ratio of faculty to fellow training (5 faculty to 1 fellow for 2020-2021 and expected 6 faculty to 1 fellow for 2021-2022). This offers ample learning opportunities and vast operative experience. Our program prides itself on exceeding all case requirement minimums for more than a decade.

As a hybrid academically affiliated private practice program, the fellow is involved in a wide variety of daily educational activities with our medical students, general surgery residents and faculty. Our fellow has opportunities with the Xi and Si robots, laparoscopic surgery, open surgery, TEM, and TAMIS. We collaborate with our colleagues at Children’s hospital and we are one of the few centers in the country with intraoperative radiation as an adjunct to locally advance/recurrent rectal cancer treatment.
