About the Course

This course equips healthcare professionals with the essential skills to recognize and respond to life-threatening emergencies. Participants will learn to:

  • Provide high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants.
  • Use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).
  • Effectively relieve choking in a variety of scenarios.

This hands-on course follows the American Heart Association’s® 2020 Guidelines for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care. It incorporates practical training in both in-hospital and out-of-hospital settings, with guidance from our highly experienced instructors who will review real-world emergency scenarios.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a 2-year certification through the American Heart Association, validating their skills in life-saving techniques.

Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) Initial

The ACLS (Initial) Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other individuals in fields requiring advanced life-saving techniques. This course is ideal for those working in high-pressure settings AND have never taken ACLS or have let their ACLS certification expire for more than 30 days. *This course contains pre-course test & videos that will be delivered to your email upon sign up.

  • Acute dysrhythmia recognition and treatment.

Heartcode Skills Checks

Heartcode® blended learning is RENEWALS ONLY for Creighton Students.

The HeartCode® Skills Checks offers the opportunity to complete your CPR, ACLS, or PALS certification through an interactive, online platform. Each course is structured to meet the 2020 AHA guidelines and ensures that you learn the most current techniques in life-saving procedures. Key aspects of the HeartCode® Skills Checks include:

  • HeartCode® BLS: Covers CPR and AED use for healthcare professionals, as well as the recognition of life-threatening emergencies, including choking. 
  • HeartCode® ACLS: Focuses on advanced life support skills such as recognizing and managing cardiopulmonary arrest, dysrhythmias, stroke, and acute coronary syndromes.
  • HeartCode® PALS: Designed to teach pediatric advanced life support for healthcare professionals, including recognition and management of pediatric emergencies such as respiratory failure and shock.

All Heartcode® products can be purchased online through the AHA website, link is provided below. You will be purchasing the blended learning through AHA and then you will be purchasing the hands only skills check through this Creighton registration. You are required to provide a copy of the PART 1 certificate when you arrive for your skills session. https://shopcpr.heart.org/heartcode 

Once you’ve completed the online portion of the course, you will need to attend a skills session to practice and demonstrate your skills. Upon successful completion of the online course and skills session, you will receive your 2-year certification from the American Heart Association.

About the Course

The Heartsaver® Course teaches essential skills for recognizing and responding to emergencies, with a focus on CPR and AED use. This hands-on course covers the latest techniques in CPR and AED use for adults, children, and infants, following the 2020 AHA Guidelines. Key components of the course include:

  • Performing high-quality CPR for adults, children, and infants.
  • Using an Automated External Defibrillator (AED) effectively.
  • Recognizing the signs of choking and learning to relieve choking in adults, children, and infants.

Add First Aid to Your Course

During the registration process, you also have the option to add First Aid training to your Heartsaver® course. This addition covers topics such as:

  • Basic wound care (burns, cuts, scrapes, and bruises).
  • Recognizing and responding to medical emergencies like strokes, heart attacks, and seizures.
  • First aid for broken bones, allergic reactions, and other common injuries.

Upon successful completion of this course, participants will receive a 2-year Heartsaver® certification through the American Heart Association.
