According to Newsweek magazine, the demand for social work skills places the profession among the top 20 occupations over the past few years. Career options with a BSW are as varied as career, marriage, drug rehabilitation and adoption counseling; casework with older adults, child welfare, foster care and family services; and many other human services-oriented professions.

The Bureau of Labor Statistics states that employment of social workers is projected to grow 19% by 2022, faster than the average for all occupations.

  • Creighton University Student Organization of Social Workers (CUSOSW)

    Creighton University Student Organization of Social Workers (CUSOSW) is a social work student organization designed to educate others about the profession of social work. We see ourselves as committed to the dignity, worth and value of all human beings, regardless of social class, race, color, creed, gender or age. We uphold social work values and carry this awareness throughout the University and community.

Internships

Practicum is a required part of the degree. Students complete 40 hours of pre-practicum and 420 hours of practicum as seniors.

Admissions Requirements

To be an admitted major to the social work program you must: declare your major through the College of Arts and Sciences, apply to the social work program, provide 3 letters of reference and complete an interview with program faculty.
